Rabbit Hill Gardens Herb Farm News
Nursery and herb shop with a touch of Provence

March
2008

Dear Friends,
The butterflies are starting to come back to the garden including the red admirals which seem to be the first new arrivals of spring every year. The newest butterfly plant in our nursery is the giant milkweed, a tropical plant in the milkweed family which you can see and read about here.
February days were warm which bought out people looking for basil plants. But February nights were still in the 50's which promotes basil diseases and all herb growers were finding failed crops. Luckily the nights have warmed up in March and the beloved basil is back.
Now is the time for a last planting of cool weather transplants like annual dill and cilantro.

Happy Easter March 23

For the first and only time in my lifetime, Easter falls on my birthday, March 23, the second earliest day it can possibly be. To celebrate Easter, I designed a series of lavender sachets decorated with turn-of-the-century Easter photos like the ones on this page. See them in the shop or on our online store.     Susan
